Walkout Toolkit for Student Organizers

LINK TO THE TOOLKIT: Everything you need to organize a successful action

Youth around the globe are leading a massive climate strike on September 24th. At schools, universities, and workplaces all over the world, people of all ages will walk out on 9/24/21 to demand their governments tackle the climate crisis.

Your event: You could just make a sign and stand with it. Or you could plan a day full of activities and music with a team of volunteers. Or anything in between. You might march or make art or dance. It is up to you. We are here to help with ideas, information, logistics, coaching, and skills training.

Use whatever parts of the toolkit are helpful for your event.

Subject: Join me at the Global #ClimateWalkout on Sept 24th

Dear {first name},

On Friday, September 24th, I’ll be walking out of school/work to stand with young people across the world to demand climate action and a sustainable, livable future.

RSVP to walkout with me on September 24th!

We can’t wait any longer to treat climate change as what it truly is – an urgent crisis that needs our attention NOW.

As Greta Thunberg has said, “Adults keep saying we owe it to the young people, to give them hope, but I don’t want your hope. I don’t want you to be hopeful. I want you to panic. I want you to feel the fear I feel every day. I want you to act. I want you to act as you would in a crisis. I want you to act as if the house is on fire, because it is.”

I hope you can make it!
